Frequently asked questions
Is There Sugar In Your Drinks?
None of our drinks contain sugar or artificial sweeteners. We only use a small amount of maple syrup and monk fruit sweetener in each drink for sweetness. Who doesn’t like maple syrup? You can get more information on our monk fruit sweetener here.
Does It Need To Be Refrigerated?
We recommend you enjoy our plant based tonics cold. An unopened bottle of Goldthread doesn’t require refrigeration.
What Is The Shelf Life Of Your Drinks?
The shelf life of our drinks is up to one year, as long as they are unopened. Once you open the bottle, it needs to be refrigerated if you plan to finish it at a later date. The benefits of our tonics are not lost over time, but don’t wait to enjoy yours for the full flavor experience.
What Is A Tonic?
Plant based tonics are synergistic blends of high volume of plant materials brewed in water and finished with citrus and natural sweetener. Our formulas are based on positive results over many years of private clinical practice.
I’m Worried About Drinking Herbs, Are They Safe?
Yes, all the herbs we use in our drinks are GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe). Generally recognized as safe, GRAS is an American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) designation that a chemical or substance added to food is considered safe by experts, and so, is exempt from the usual Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) food additive tolerance requirements.
Are Your Drinks Safe For Kids?
Yes, they are safe for kids and beneficial for them too. Kids love the fresh, juicy flavors and tonics are a great way to get kids the nourishment their growing bodies need.
Are Your Drinks Organic?
The herbs in our tonics are all organic. One of our missions is to support as many small, independent herb farmers and growers as we possibly can. These growers can’t always afford an organic certification, though they still work with organic practices and, in some cases, even exceed them. As we continue to develop our supply chain in accordance with our values, we will use the plants grown by these farms more and more. We are weighing out the benefit of getting an organic certification for our tonics while making sure not to be prevented from supporting small farmers around the world.
Are Your Drinks Raw?
Our drinks are not raw. Each batch is hand brewed to draw out the most vital constituents of dried plant material we can deliver. Plant based tonics should not be confused with raw fruit and vegetable juices, though they are often even more nutritious and beneficial to the body than those healthy drinks.
Are Your Drinks Vegetarian, Vegan, Paleo, Gluten Free, Non Gmo?
All of our drinks are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and non GMO. We are working on our Non-GMO certification and will keep you updated as we move the process along.
